some lazy, college student's ramblings
But will it be in time?

As most Nintendo fans would agree there are a select few franchises that seem to keep the company above water.
Zelda
Metroid
Mario Kart
Mario Party / Wario Ware
Super Smash Bros.
Pokemon

I realize that there are others but without these can anyone honestly say that Nintendo would still be around now? The Wii was/is a great console and it has a lot of fun just waiting to be unleashed on it. The only problem is that it doesn't seem like this fun is coming fast enough. I was just reading some blogs today about people just kinda letting their Wii's collect dust until guests come over for some party games (Wii Sports, Wario Ware, Mario Party).

Is the Wii really just as useful as a board game and nothing more? I'd hate to think that's the case. The problem is that with such HUGE caps between new Nintendo exclusive games the console really is losing its luster very rapidly.

Metroid and Zelda are already out. They were both great games but when do we get something else to sink our teeth in. As an annoying Pokemon fan I obviously have the two DS games and the new Pokemon: Battle Revolution but dang P:BR was such an enormous letdown. There's no story mode which means it's simple a 3D wi-fi battle simulator. Even with that one filling in a bit of the gap I'm running out of reasons to keep returning to my Wii.

I believe the Mario Galaxy game should be coming out soon. It looks spacey but that's about all I'm getting from it so far. Will that hold us over until Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out in February? There's no doubt in my mind that SSBB will be loads of fun but it's so far away now that I'm not sure that Nintendo will have the following for it by then. Sadly my favorite console is losing it's luster and I don't know if Smash Bros. will be enough to return it to its formal glory.

Regardless, I do have a few updates to the games that might be worth noting. Sonic will be a playable character as will a Pokemon trainer. Both seem to take a lot of different strengths and weaknesses to the battle and alone make the game fresh enough that I will gladly pre-order this game. I HAVE never and likely WILL never again pre-order a video game. Check out the official site to get as pumped as I am. Link

Zoo, you're making me feel all uncomfortable and stuff with that last comment.

Uhh... besides, there's plenty of the ladies who play video games. You just have to find them. The community of video gamers I know are about 50% men, 49% women, and 1% totally confused.

Then I guess you haven't tried hard enough. There's plenty of people who you just haven't met yet I'm sure. Something tells me you don't know every person in that school...

Well, when you have around 50,000 people or so, I think it's impossible to know them all.

The vast majority of my female friends are gamers, actually, so I have a hard time identifying with the sentiment that female gamers are rare. In certain genres? Perhaps. Not in general, though.

As for Halo 3: holy shit, that game is awesome. 8 vs 8 on Sandtrap is a hoot.

My favorite on Halo 3 has to be VIP or capture the Flag...it's just so easy to tell everyone what to do because for some reason no one knows the rules...?

thats because most people are halo 2 vets, and the game variations they circulate on halo 3 have slight changes in the rules (like being able to score in ctf when your flag is away; never used to be able to do that)

Well, as long as my roommate doesn't sell his copy of the game I guess I could try to find you and play, KQ.

If I play it will likely be under RabbidMonkey86

The other option is Darth Tubgirl. I like RabbidMonkey86 more so that's likely what I'll play under.
